Second helpings on a cycle, anyone? Still brushing up on my basic body mechanics, and this time, I wanted to go a little more cartoony. The setup: a day of fun at the circus gone horribly awry when this fella accidentally stepped on a chihuahua belonging to a gang of grizzly clowns. You can tell by the look on his face that this homicide won’t go unavenged, and Bo-Bo the Clown can pack a mean punch.

A Walk Cycle

I decided to go back to some basics this week. Here’s a pretty straightforward cycle - with a touch of mustard…

His walk should convey jaunty optimism, a devil may care attitude. He’s a lady’s man, with a couple of screws loose. This little fella has more in store in the coming weeks, so stay tuned in!

What would your epithet be?

Anytime I’m driving around in my car, it’s practically certain that I’m listening to one of three things: my i-pod, myself cursing the hell that is LA traffic, or NPR (although, the second comes and goes sporadically on a daily basis). NPR - specifically KPCC in my neck of the woods - is the most thought provoking of all my choices. For those of you who are quick to categorize public radio as boring or stuffy, well….Pffft!

On this night, my friend Patt Morrison (and I use the term “friend” loosely here) interviewed the editors, Rachel Fershleiser and Larry Smith, who recently published a collection of autobiographies contributed by some famous and not-so-famous scribes of our time. Entitled: Not Quite What I Was Planning: And Other Six-Word Memoirs by Writers Obscure, this comparatively smaller volume sums up in six words what could otherwise be said in 600 pages. Take for example this personal narrative, which Rachel was quoting when I first tuned in: “After Harvard, had baby with crackhead.” Wow….That’s a story.

It’s rainy in January…

This means lots of time to do some work. I’ve finished this shot - animation & lighting - and now it’s ready to render. I have run into some roadblocks dealing with Maya’s batch render on my Mac (if anyone has suggestions and or workarounds, please don’t hesitate to shed some light on the issue) but my reel will soon be updated to reflect recent work. Return from vacation…

Hi everybody! I’ve recently returned from vacationing in Paris. It was pretty chilly, very rainy, but totally inspiring and romantic. I got a break from the monotony of my daily life and I’m ready to tackle some animation. I’ll be FINALLY be finishing my current WIP and I’m planning on submitting a shot to this month’s 11 Second Club competition. Stay tuned!

OK…so I’ve made a few changes based on some comments from my animation critics. I hope you enjoy the faster streaming this time around. It’s almost done, and I’m so close I can taste it….mmmmm….strawberry….And, as always, I’m open to comments and recommendations.
